Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to the Journal of Geosurface (JoG) must comply with the journal’s author guidelines. All submitted manuscripts will undergo an Initial Review conducted by the Editorial Team. During this stage, manuscripts will be evaluated based on:

  1. language quality, including grammar and clarity of writing;
  2. compliance with the journal template;
  3. relevance to the journal’s aims and scope;
  4. originality and novelty of the research; and
  5. similarity index. Similarity screening is conducted using plagiarism detection software to ensure that manuscripts are free from plagiarism and unethical publication practices.

Manuscripts that meet these requirements will proceed to the Double-Blind Peer Review process and will be reviewed by at least one reviewer or more, depending on the subject area and the editor’s consideration. During the review process, reviewers will be provided with a review form as a guideline for evaluating the scientific quality, originality, methodology, research findings, discussion, conclusions, and overall contribution of the manuscript to the advancement of knowledge.

Upon completion of the review process, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) along with the reviewers’ comments, suggestions, and evaluation results. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the recommendations provided by the reviewers and editors within the specified revision period. In addition to submitting the revised manuscript, authors may also be requested to provide a detailed response to each reviewer comment in a separate document.

The final decision regarding the acceptance, revision, or rejection of a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into consideration the recommendations of the reviewers and the Editorial Team. All accepted manuscripts will undergo copyediting and final proofreading before publication to ensure academic quality and consistency.

JoG ensures the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts, supporting data, and review reports throughout the review process. Authors’ identities will be concealed before manuscripts are sent to reviewers in order to maintain objectivity within the Double-Blind Review process. All reviewer evaluations and editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific merit of the manuscript and are conducted objectively, professionally, and without conflicts of interest.
