Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy

  1. General Provisions

Global Expert: Journal of Language and Literature acknowledges the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in academic activities and scholarly publishing. The use of AI in writing, editing, and the editorial process must be conducted responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics.

  1. Use of AI by Authors

Authors are required to disclose the use of generative AI if it is employed substantively in the preparation or development of a manuscript—including for generating text, analyzing data, or producing other materials used in the article. Such disclosure must specify the name of the tool used, the purpose of its use, and the specific parts of the work for which AI assisted.

The use of tools for spell-checking, grammar checking, or language editing may be exempt from this specific disclosure requirement, provided that such use is purely mechanical and does not generate new scientific substance, in accordance with the journal’s guidelines.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy of information, validity of data, originality, citations, confidentiality, and the entire content of the manuscript, including any portions generated or assisted by AI. AI cannot be listed as an author of an article.

  1. Use of AI by Editor

Editors may utilize AI-based tools to support administrative or technical tasks, provided that these tools do not replace scientific judgment or editorial decision-making. The use of AI must not compromise an editor’s objectivity, independence, commitment to confidentiality, or responsibility in managing manuscripts.

Editors are prohibited from uploading unpublished manuscripts, author data, or other confidential materials to any AI application that does not guarantee the protection of such information.

  1. Use of AI by Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers are prohibited from using generative AI to analyse, evaluate, or assess manuscripts, or to draft comments and recommendations regarding manuscripts under review. Reviewers are also prohibited from inputting or uploading manuscripts, portions of manuscripts, or any confidential information obtained during the review process into AI applications.

Scientific assessments, comments, recommendations, and decisions related to the review process must be the result of the reviewer’s own professional judgment.

  1. Responsibility and Integrity

The use of AI by authors or editors does not shift human responsibility for the accuracy, originality, confidentiality, and integrity of scientific publications. AI cannot replace scientific judgment, authorship responsibility, or editorial decision-making.

Violations of this policy will be addressed in accordance with the publication ethics policy and editorial procedures of Global Expert: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra.
